2020.09.23 00:42 cedriks A trial-n-error experience of transferring 20 GB of files from HDD to local storage on iPad Pro in one go

Background: I have an ambition to replace my computer with my iPad Pro as much as possible. My biggest concern (read: worry) is to connect my 4TB harddrive (HDD) directly to the iPad Pro. Today I did it, and this is my trial-n-error experience on iPadOS 14. While doing this I was safe in knowing I had a recent backup on another harddrive.
Tl;dr
a. The process of copying from harddrive to iPad Pro is able to either work in background when Files app is completely shut down or at least progress as-if nothing happened when the Files app is restarted. It’s okay to make the destination-selection screen go away; the progress will still continue.
b. Files and folders inside a copied folder are copied top-down. This made it possible for me to quickly identify that 5 subfolders were not transferred (for some reason).
c. Created/Modified-date is preserved for copied files, but not for copied folders.
d. Assumes that Files app sometimes needs restarting in order to continue copying process (for some reason).
e. After a minute or so, a greyed out folder (not yet complete copy) will get an arrow to the right (may require restart of Files app for graphics to update) which indicates it’s possible to enter split-screen mode with that folder. If grey folder doesn’t have an arrow yet, it will cause the Files app to crash (without interrupting process).
f. Shutting down iPad Pro makes my HDD emulate the same behaviour as if I’d eject it on a computer.
g. Update: It’s possible to determine if a massive iCloud upload is finished by looking at the ”Last edited” for the parent-folder that was copied. If the time is still recent, wait to see if it updates to a more recent time. This can take a while if a certain large file is being uploaded, but if the ”Last edit” is several hours back, that means that the upload is done.
Long thinker notes, step by step:
  1. Connecting the HDD.
  2. Using the ”Select - Move - Copy” brings upp a Folder-select window that does not disappear until the copy activity is done. A spinning animation shows copy is in progress.
  3. Clicking outside of the selecting-window while copy is in progress makes it disappear. There’s no appearent sign of activity happening in the destination folder.
  4. Restaring the Files app (removing all windows). Now the destination folders contains the copied folder but it is greyed-out folder. I can’t click the folder to enter it.
  5. Long-pressing the grey folder and placing it to the right trigger split screen. The right screen shows the content of the folder. Removing the split screen and repeating to see if it works a second time; it does. While in split screen: Noticing that the left screen now has a progress circle next to the gray folder. Removing split screen. Noticing the progress circle disappears. Enters split screen again like before; the progress circle is back.
  6. Conclusion: The process of copying from harddrive to iPad Pro is able to either work in background when Files app is completely shut down or at least progress as-if nothing happened when the Files app is restarted. It’s okay to make the destination-selection screen go away; the progress will still continue.
  7. Looking through the content of the grey folder. Noticing that it progresses with folders and files in a top-down fashion (i.e. files/folders at the top of the original folder are copied first). While observing, file after file appears automatically in the gray folder. Noticing that files’ ”last edited” is the current time as they are processed, but this changes to their original ”last edit” when they are complete. Noticing that subfolders’ Modified-date continues to be the time they were processed. While a file is being processed, the file size is progressively going from smaller to larger.
  8. Conclusion: Created/Modified-date is preserved for copied files, but not for copied folders.
  9. At the very end of the process, it seemed to jump from not being a full circle to being complete. I checked the last subfolders and files in the before grey folder. The 5 last subfolders had not been copied, as well as one folder higher up (for some reason). Went through most files folder by folder, but found no other differences.
  10. silently wishing there was a function to verify that a folder and it’s content had been copied correctly
  11. For the last files, I this time used split screen mode to copy to their destination. The progress circle rotated like ”loading”. Noticed it didn’t progress. With confidence that the process would continue if I closed the app, I did and removed all active File windows. Restarted Files app, and noticed that the last 5 folder now started copying with a normal progress circle.
  12. Conclusion: Assumes that Files app sometimes needs restarting in order to continue copying process (for some reason).
  13. The 5 subfolders are greyed out. Tried split screen with first folder to view it’s content. Files app instead crashed. Restarted files app. Noticed after a while that the first folder got an arrow to the right while the four others didn’t have that. Tried split screen again, and this time it worked in order to view content. Tried with the others. The Finder Crashed.
  14. Conclusion: After a minute or so, a greyed out folder (not yet complete copy) will get an arrow to the right (may require restart of Files app for graphics to update) which indicates it’s possible to enter split-screen mode with that folder. If grey folder doesn’t have an arrow yet, it will cause the Files app to crash (without interrupting process).
  15. Being adviced that safe eject is not neccessary anymore, I ignored that advice and shut of my iPad to be really sure. My harddrive normally has a blinking blue light when active and that turns off when safely ejected. Closing the Files app does not make the light turn off (as we’ve seen the progress still goes on in the background). Shutting of the iPad makes my harddrive (HDD) slowly stop spinning and then turn off together with the blue light.
  16. Conclusion: Shutting down iPad Pro makes my HDD emulate the same behaviour as if I’d eject it on a computer.
Update:
  1. I tried to transfer files from the HDD directly to an iCloud folder in the Files app. One question that occured to me was ”How do I know when everything is uploaded to iCloud?”, and the reason for that was because the local storage was becoming very full and I consequently wanted to offload the Files app and ’onload’ it again so only the files I currently need were locally available. I didn’t want to risk a possible duplicate mess (Files seriously need a duplicate feature; both automatic and manual) so I wanted to wait out the uploading process.
  2. Conclusion: It’s possible to determine if a massive iCloud upload is finished by looking at the ”Last edited” for the parent-folder that was copied. If the time is still recent, wait to see if it updates to a more recent time. This can take a while if a certain large file is being uploaded, but if the ”Last edit” is several hours back, that means that the upload is done.

2020.09.20 05:14 Bluewonder02 Need Help to Save Data in External Hard Drive Failure

Hi want to ask if anyone here have experience with External Hard Drive Failure issues (not detected, RAW file system, hardware failure)
My External HDD is a WD My Passport 4 TB. It suddenly freeze when being used, then make everything freeze in my new notebook (windows 10, USB 3). After waiting for quite long time (around 20 minutes or so), I tried to force restart the notebook. After that my external HDD couldn’t be opened. The HDD appear as drive F in 'My Computer', but it couldn't be opened.
After that, I try several attempts to troubleshoot as follow:
1st: Retry on the same notebook (windows 10). Then there is pop up notification appear: “The request failed due to fatal device hardware error”.
2nd: I tried connect to different PC (also windows 10). It still couldn’t be opened but there’s no notification pop up. It listed as drive F in 'My Computer' also in 'Computer Management'. However in the 'Computer Management', the HDD file system written as RAW (not NTFS). The drive still couldn’t be accessed.
3rd: I tried some suggestion to check it on Macbook (iOS). The HDD doesn’t appear on the 'Finder', but it shown (after around 15 minutes or so) in 'Disk Utility'. However i couldn't mount the drive or accessed the files. When i click the HDD properties in 'Disk Utility', it’s written “can be verified:no, can be repaired:no”.
4th: I tried again to access using 1st notebook (to try chkdsk). It shown as drive F but when i try to open 'Computer Management', again the notebook getting freeze and the weird sound started. After waiting for 10 minutes, I have to force shut down (again) and unplug the cable.
I wonder if anyone here have encounter this kind of issue or having similar experience.
My question is:
  1. Is that hardware failure or logical failure?
  2. As the data really really important for me, is there still a way to save the data inside (maybe around 500GB to 1TB data).
  3. Should i retry using chkdsk/data recovery software? Or i should I stop trying to plug the HDD to prevent more damage (if it’s hardware failure)?
I try to see some videos on youtube but that’s make me more confuse, whether that’s hardware failure or system (logical) failure.
And for now, professional data recovery services isn't really an option for me because:
  1. I couldn't afford the cost. The price around 350 to 1200 USD (5-17 mio IDR) for 4TB capacity, plus another 150 USD for buy new (minimum) 4TB external HDD to copy data recovery result.
  2. Even with those amount of money, there's no guarantee all the data will sucessfully recover.
  3. I'm afraid for data confidentiality during the recovery process, since some of the data contain financial information.
Ps: It's out of warranty since april 2020 and I've reach the WD customer support for this but haven't received the feedback.
Really hopes to hear from others who have similar experience or maybe an expert in this field.
Thanks and looking forward for the recomendation.

2020.09.15 21:56 Eliiasv It's almost perfect, yet not useable.

Why I wanted to switch to pop and why I think it's so good.
Since switching from macOS to windows a year and half ago I've been more and more bugged everyday by how unintuitive and inconsistent Windows 10 is. Even running windows 10 LTSC (windows without the stock "malware") still doesn't provide me with the clean experience that I had with macOS. Since I can't justify switching back to mac until Apple releases a 16 inch mbp with their own silicone I decided to give Linux a shot.
First impressions of pop-os were very good. Desktop is clean and simple and the search function is powerful and quick. The stock file manager is very simple and intuitive and has a clean look, it's everything I wished windows "file explorer" was (which is one of the major reasons I wanted to switch from windows). Pop-os "files" reminds me of Finder which is one of my most beloved things about macOS. Using the OS through the terminal is also a great experience and Linux is optimal for (python) programming.
One major issue
However, as much as I want to, I unfortunately, cannot switch over to pop-os because of two major problems with pop. The first, deal breaking "flaw" of pop is the fact that they (seemingly recently) have disabled fractional scaling making 4K monitors incredibly uncomfortable to use due to all the elements on screen being tiny (yes I know 200% scaling exists but I’m convinced that feature is simply a joke or for people who have 55 inch tvs) Maybe I could get used to the small elements and use the "big text" setting but I have a second 1440p monitor and having different scaling looks bad and feels very weird and not being able to change to big text on just the 4k one makes that “solution” a no-go as well. Simple 1.25 or 1.5 fractional scaling (even if it wasn't perfect) would fix all of this.
The second issue is that my keyboard (Anne Pro 2, wired) keeps randomly disconnecting every 30 minutes(?) or so and also every time my computer sleeps. This is probably fixable but since I can’t really use this distro bc of the first issue I haven’t really bothered researching this.
Is there any hope?
Hopefully these things will be taken care of in future major updates (whenever that happens) but as of right now I don't think I can use this os for now.
If anyone has a fix for any of these issues I'd be incredibly thankful! Pop seems to be such a great os and I'm saddened that I cannot use it. Also are there any other distros that are similar to pop in terms of simplicity and looks (I don't wanna have to re-theme the entire os) that you guys would recommend?
TLDR: Pop-os is super clean and great overall, unless you use 4K monitors...

2020.09.15 15:53 Oni250 Dragging and Dropping Audio Files on Mac

I can’t seem to drag and drop audio files into my “file” window on top of another file that’s already in my file panel, and this hasn’t been an issue before. I can drop it if my mouse isn’t hovered over another file.
Example: “file 1” is already in my file panel and I want to drag and drop “file 2” into my file panel from the Finder window.
If I hover over “file 1” I’m presented with a symbol saying I can’t drop it but if I move below the file it gives me the green plus and I can drop.
Now it’s not a big deal but I deal with a lot of files and my file panel starts to fill quickly so there really isn’t room for me to drop unless it’s on top of a file.
Can someone help with this?

TL;DR: Switched from Sierra on an ancient MacBook Pro to Mint XFCE on an equally ancient dumpster PC. With KDE and Latte Dock, I'm in bliss. [Here's my desktop.]1
I rarely update computes. My first was a Compaq PC with XP from 2003 which I ran until 2011 until I got my MacBook Pro 8,1, which is now running Sierra. It is reaching the end of its life, although expanding the ram to 16 gigs, replacing the optical drive with an HDD and the boot drive with SSD has breathed new life into its old body. Still, if you open more than 10 tabs in chrome, it becomes hot enough to fry eggs. Tabbed browsing in Finder is extremely sluggish without a dedicated GPU, and editing videos or using Gimp takes forevvvvvver because the i7 dual core processor is the true bottleneck -- so glad they welded it onto the board /s.
I recently installed Mint Linux XFCE on a Dell Vostro 230 I rescued from a hospital dumpster. After doubling the ram to 4 WHOLE GIGS and installing an SSD, I found it to be adequate as a PC to maybe give my parents, neither of whom are tech savvy. Just for fun, I installed Mint Cinnamon to see if it ran - which it of course did. Over the last month, I've been messing around in Linux and I'm starting to love it. Apple is hanging the sword of Damocles over the head of vintage Mac users, and I can't be arsed with dealing with the kafka-esque ui of windows. Mac users will probably find that KDE with Latte Dock is an equal replacement to the OS X UI, but way more configurable. It takes an afternoon of installing themes, altering title bar button placement, etc, but with enough work it will feel "like home," - at least, as long as updates don't refuckulate your settings. The only things I still can't get working are filesharing over LAN and pinyin input on the keyboard, which are easy enough to work around for normal monolingual users.
The only things I know I would miss about Mac are:
If Nautilus had a quick-look option for files, I would be in heaven. If there was anything like Preview on a linux distro, I would bend over backwards to get it working. But I still have my MacBook for class, and it fits into a nice ecosystem that I have going. Windows would only appeal to me for video games, but I have my xbox for that. Mint's Rhythmbox is everything I need from iTunes without the limitations (except fluent iPhone sync). But I've also got spotify, which works in a damn BROWSER, so what difference does it make? I'll be fine. I run Gimp instead of Photoshop on my Macbook, so nothing lost there. VLC is way more versatile than quicktime, I don't miss iMovie at all with Lightworks. I'm committed to LibreOffice, which I've had for a long while on my MacBook as a backup for opening MS office files, and I'm already learning to love it in spite of the ugliness. I mean, I've learned to love really ugly software like Office 03 and outdated Pages, what's the difference? Google Docs is fine when I need something to share over cloud that also has a pretty ui, even if the formatting options are barebones.
Learning terminal isn't easy but the more I use it the more I rely on it. Thank god for the community guides. I also love how I can customise nearly anything in the UI with enough effort, so long as some update doesn't reset it. If that happens, then I just do it over again. But at least I can choose what and when to update, and best of all, it's free and always will be. And unlike Mac, if features don't get outright removed with updates; and unlike Windows, they aren't hidden in byzantine applications trapped in a time capsule from 1998. When I build a PC for my future, and not just out of scraps, I'll definitely go to Linux first. Thanks for reading!

2020.09.08 22:29 Steel_here SD Card crashes any computer (Windows or Mac) that tries to copy data from it.

Hi all, I hope there's a solution to this as it has me stumped.
I have been trying to back up an SD card that was in my technophobe Mum's phone, as it has multiple photos and videos of holidays, family members etc that she would like to keep safe.
I offered to copy and paste the contents on the Card to a spare hard drive I have laying around that I use for archival storage. However as soon as anything is copied, the copy dialogue box will calculate time remaining, and then crash Windows Explorer.
I then tried to copy direct to the windows desktop, thinking the external HDD was the issue, however it had the same issue.
It did this multiple times, and even for smaller files (around 20mb), so I decided to try it on my laptop (Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6) but it had the same result, and finder crashed.
The SD card in question is a 16GB 10mb/s Sandisk Micro SD, formatted in FAT32. It has no visible damage at all. I am trying to copy just under 5GB of data, although as previously mentioned, the size of file being copied seems to have no effect on wether it crashes the computer or not
Does anyone have a solution, I'm all out of ideas (and computers to test on!). There are some extremely valuable memories on there that we don't want to lose..
Thank you in advance and sorry for the slightly longer post, I wanted to make sure I covered everything.

2020.09.06 21:05 mjordanhill File explorer thumbnails show no preview for videos

Hi all, I just built a pc and installed Windows 10. I have been working on Macs for years now so there is a bit of a learning curve. I usually do video editing but have run into a problem. Typically when I go to finder, Mac's version of file explorer, I see a thumbnail with a preview of what the video is which is necessary for selecting the right clips. However, when I am in file explorer it is a generic icon of what program is set to open it. I have gone through a number of tutorials to change the settings to fix this but to no avail.

2020.09.03 23:48 mathstuf Disabling application save state in macOS

I'm attempting to get CI working on some Mac machines and have been hitting stalls with macOS asking if I'd like to restore the application if it crashes. I'd really like to disable this behavior (it's fine if it is system-wide too; the machine is ~never going to have a human in front of it to answer any of these questions anyways). I've tried making the relevant .savedState directories under ~/Library/Saved Application State and making the unwriteable (either via sudo chown root or locking via the Finder panel thing), but then I get errors during testing about not being able to open a saved state file which then gets detected as a failure and fails the test. Can I just disable this behavior? It seems that 10.15 no longer has the "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" under General (apparently introduced in 10.7), but I suppose maybe defaults can access it behind the scenes?
Thanks.

2020.09.02 20:44 octoreed Empty Downloads folder uses 88 GB of space on Catalina

As the title says, my Downloads folder uses 87.95 GB of space (as reported by Finder) but Finder does not show any files in the folder.
In Terminal, du -sh ~/Downloads reports 82 GB. du -sh ~/Downloads/* shows two files $RECYCLE.BIN and desktop.inithat are both 4 KB.
I'm running Catalina 10.15.6 on a 2019 16" MBP. I have a Win10 installation on Parallels 16, and I'm not sure if this storage issue is related to Parallels. I do share this Downloads folder with the Windows VM, but Windows doesn't show any files in the folder either.
Apple tech support has had me re-install MacOS (without formatting the disk) and also re-index Spotlight. Of course I could just wipe the disk and reinstall MacOS, but I'd really like to understand WHY this is happening. Any ideas?

Edit: OmniDiskSweeper showed a folder named .Trash-1000 in the Downloads folder with a bunch of stuff I had deleted (Trash showed as empty). I was able to remove this folder through OmniDiskSweeper and the issue is resolved.

2020.09.02 19:26 SkyVelleity Need help saving The Day of Sagittarius III for iOS from Being Lost Forever

tl;dr If you previously purchased The Day of Sagittarius III for iOS, or know someone who did, you may be essential in preventing the game from being lost forever.

I'm hoping someone in this subreddit can help me out, because this is a long shot and there's not much I can do myself in this matter.
Back in 2010, The Day of Sagittarius III (TDOS3) was released on the App Store for iPhone, however, as Apple no longer allows the purchase of 32-bit only apps, it has been removed for purchase, yet is still available for download to anyone who has previously purchased it.
To prevent the game from being lost forever, I'm looking for the help of someone who has previously purchased the app:
To save the app from being lost forever, should Apple make a change in the future, someone who has already purchased the game would need to download and install iTunes 12.6.5, Available Here (this can be installed on any recent version of Windows, or any version of macOS before 10.14 Mojave (this will run alongside your main iTunes install, if you have one)), then sign in with the iTunes account used to purchase the game, go to the Store page, click "Apps" (By selecting "Music" up the top left, then "Edit Menu", and enabling "Apps"), you should now see "App Store", and on the right you can click "Purchases", and God willing you'll see every app you've downloaded available there.
Searching for "TDOS" or "Sagittarius"
Download it, then go to library, right click on TDOS3, and select either "Show in Windows Explorer" or "Show in Finder", and you'll have the file we're after, ready to be preserved.
(All apps you download should show up as .ipa files (iOS apps) in "[user]\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications" on Windows, or "~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications" if you're on a Mac.)
This isn't the final step, as the app is still encrypted, but keeping it somewhere safe is paramount. If you get to this stage, I'd recommend throwing it on Archive.org, or pomf.cat and linking to it in this thread.
I'll leave it here for now, if anyone gets this far then I can walk you through decrypting the app so anyone can install it, I just thought I'd post this while Haruhi's getting a little extra attention, possibly from some older fans, I've somewhat rushed this post but I think it's important to try and save this app if at all possible, as quickly as possible. As far as I'm aware, this is one of the only pieces of lost media relating to Haruhi, I'd very much like to make sure it's saved.
If there's any other lost media, I think we should all endeavour to do our hardest to save it, but for now, let's try TDOS3.

Additionally, it appears there was also a "Drill Edition" available, however I am unaware of the differences between this version and the other.
(Preserving both would be ideal.)

2020.09.02 09:01 yutoad This operation can’t be completed because disk is full

My macbook (Macbook Air 11-Inch, 2013, Mojave, OS v. 10.14.2) this morning opened to all my windows crashing and several windows popping up stating that the disk is full.
The day before my mac had about a 1.5GB of space remaining. Even right now, it has 367.3 MB available. I have had it to zero GB in the past.
Now my mac is unable to delete anything or open anything outside of Finder.
When I try to delete a file, it will say “the item __ will be deleted immediately. Are you sure you want to continue?” and following continue I am prompted “The operation can’t be completed because the disk is full”, followed by the sound of the trash being emptied and then the file NOT being deleted.
I have tried deleting files through Terminal but now when I open Terminal it states “Last login: Fri Sep 6 10:24:44 on ttys000 [Process Completed]” and I am unable to type anything into Terminal.
I did attempt to use the New Command... option to force delete files, but it didn’t seem to work. I may have been inputting this command incorrectly.
I am unable to open Google Chrome, Microsoft Word/Powerpoint, iTunes, iMessage, or Notes.
I tried to run First Aid through Disk Utility on my Macintosh HD, and it did find something that needs to be repaired, stating:
Verifying file system. Volume could not be unmounted. Using live mode. Performing fsck_apsf -n -l -x /dev/rdisk1s1 error: mkdir: /private/vafolders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/T/ fsck_apfs.37008.1: No space left on device error: Nowhere to mount crypto dev File system check exit code is 73. Restoring the original state found as mounted.
Operation successful
And lastly, I open manage disk space and I can see all of these files I can delete, but because I cannot open anything, after selecting to delete the files, they remain.
Thank you!

2020.09.01 20:16 LegoSteve55 My Neighbors Are Satanists - Part 1

Everyone has that one weird neighbor. And mine are the weirdest. I live in Suburban Chicago and work at a Denny's. Not exactly a well paying job, but it was something. Anyway, the first time I noticed something off with my neighbors was in December of 2019. It was 3:45 am, and I was tired. I was working the night shift. I lived in a small house at the end of the street. My neighbors, however, lived in a large, old Home Alone style house. Most of the houses in this neighborhood were small and new, but this one looked straight out of the 70's.
Anyway, I pulled my 2007 Crown Victoria into my driveway. I saw my neighbor's lights were on. Not too unusual, but then I saw the shadows on curtains. It looked like they were dancing inside. But two things were off 1: There was no music playing 2: It wasn't a normal dance. It was a strange movement, all in unison with each other, arms up, arms down, bend forward, bend up.
"What the...?" I shook it off and went to bed. Then it happened again. The next night, 3:30am, I saw them doing it again. Something was going on, and I was determined to find out.
I wish I never had. I wish that I had never seen what my neighbors were doing.
The next day I got the day shift, so I didn't see them doing it.
However, I woke up at around 3:10 and went to get a glass of water. And, from the kitchen window, I saw them dancing. The curtains shadows clearly projected the strange dance. I watched for I don't know how long. But then, at exactly 4am, they turned off the lights, and I couldn't see what they were doing. I wanted to know what they were doing. I needed to know. Every hour of that day, it ate me up inside. I had to find out. 8:24pm, I was arriving home. I suppose I should give some backstory on my neighbors. Supposedly, a large extended family lived there and they all worked from home. Me nor anyone in the neighborhood ever spoke to them. Once a month one of them would take their only car (a 1980's station wagon) and drive to the store. Then they would come back. The car would always be filled to the brim with food, drinks, snacks, disposable plates and silverware, everything. Lots of rumors had spread. The neighborhood kids though they might be a coven of witches. I had heard that someone suspected they were a cult of some kind. Anyway, I decided to get to the bottom of this. My father had been a detective, so I suppose I have that detective's mind. I wanted a closer look. First, I decided to simply talk to them. So, Saturday morning, January 4th 2020, I knocked on the large Oak doors. Nothing, I rang the bell. Nothing. Then, about 5 minutes later, a small mall slot at eye level opened. Two eyes stared at me. They were green-ish gray. "Hello!" I said cheerily. "I'm Steve, your next-door neighbor? I just wanted to say-" before I could finish the slot slammed shut. I got the feeling they didn't like visitors. the person who answered looked about 40 and was male, that much I new. I spent that afternoon watching television. Then, I thought came to me. What if I spied on them? Spying was wrong, and illegal, and I knew it was a bad idea. But I needed to know, even if I risked going to prison. I had an old video camera from 2012. It wasn't much, but would do. Around 12:25am I snuck to a window on the side of the house and planted the camera. I looked through the view finder. The curtain blocked most of the view, but there was a little slit that could be seen between two curtains. I turned it on and snuck back inside. The next morning, around 6:30, I snuck back to the window and grabbed the camera. 4 hours of footage. Something. I downloaded the footage. I opened the file. And what I would see, changed my life. Forever.

2020.08.26 23:20 Dayofdev PC Is Underperforming; Want to Move Files Around

So, I noticed that while playing World of Warcraft a few weeks ago, my computer would frequently freeze, stutter, and hiccup. At first, it was just in the game, but lately, it has been happening extremely frequently when I am doing menial things such as watching Youtube. I thought the issue was my CPU, so I decided to run a diagnostic to confirm it
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/32194359
However, it seems that the SSD I use to store almost all of my files(except for games) is severely underperforming. I used Largest Files finder to see what was taking up so much space(413gb used of the 446 available, while my NVME drive has 159/460gb used) and there are a few things I'd like to change but am having difficulty :
  1. I would like to migrate Windows 10 to my NVME without moving all the other files; in other words, I do not want to clone my SSD to my NVME as I will have to reinstall everything
  2. I noticed that my iCloud photos are being stored locally. How can I delete them from my PC without removing them from my iCloud drive?
  3. I want to move a large file folder(20gb) to my NVME. However, it is asking me to provide admin permission to access. I have tried numerous times, but nothing is working
Thank you in advance!

2020.08.23 23:19 it__hurts__when__IP Pavlov VR for Quest - new version b23c out! New custom maps, new weapons, TDM & more! Need more players. (Not yet on SideQuest - sideloading instructions in post - very easy to do!) Please please please update to b23c!

Hey FPS lovers. I am making this post purely to promote the new Pavlov build for Quest, because if youre like me, you cant wait for the official game (whenever it will come out).
If you've been playing the beta version of Pavlov VR on Quest and havent upgraded recently, you're most likely playing the build 22.
The build 23 c is out now, with custom maps, more guns (WWII guns), TDM and more!
The main issue with the new build (23c) is that its not yet on SideQuest and we need more people to download the new version so there are more players.
The good news is that its still very easy to download I just downloaded it today and it took me 15-20 mins from start to finish.
Its awesome! But please please please download it. The steps are actually very easy even though its not through SideQuest.

FAQ / TROUBLESHOOT tips
I can't open MPSI! It says something about malware?
It won't let you open the app because I would have to pay $100 for verification, which I don't have the means for. If macOS won't let you open the app, open System Preferences, click "Security and Privacy", then click "Open Anyway" at the bottom. I promise there is no malware, because I don't have the technical knowledge to implement it. : P
The installation is stuck on "Pushing OBB!"
This part does take a while, and the speed really depends on your cable. On average for me, it takes around 3-4 minutes. I would say give it a maximum of 10 minutes before pressing "Command + Q" in MPSI and restarting the procedure. If it gets stuck multiple times, try a different cable.
The download is stuck on "Downloading game files!"
Rarely, the download API I used just doesn't like to work. MPSI supports using previously downloaded game files, as long as they are the latest version, zipped with the default name, and stored in the "Downloads" Folder
